Milei's Government Gains Time, But Not Tranquility

The government of Javier Milei ends March with a legal victory in the YPF case, but faces growing internal conflicts, the ongoing issue with Chief of Staff Adorni, and the threat of social unrest. Power struggles within the administration and economic risks like rising oil prices continue to create pressure.

Milei's Government Gains Time, But Not Tranquility

The government of Javier Milei arrives at the end of March with a breath of fresh air that, in another context, would have completely dominated the political scene. However, this victory coexists with a focus on wear and tear that the Casa Rosada has not yet managed to close: the situation of the Chief of Staff, Manuel Adorni. In parallel, within the ruling coalition, the idea solidified that the solution is not to hide Adorni, but to overexpose him. This realignment is a warning sign for a government that made control of the public space one of its most visible assets. On the economic front, the other point under watch is the price of energy. In this reasoning, both Karina Milei's inner circle and sectors close to Santiago Caputo would have agreed that the former presidential spokesperson must regain centrality, become a daily face of the administration, and speak about government issues to stop being solely responsible for his judicial and financial front. Alongside this victory, a web of conflicts that has not yet been fully resolved persists: Adorni remains an open problem, the streets could heat up again, oil threatens to complicate the inflation battle, and the power struggle between Karina Milei and Santiago Caputo looms as a dispute far from resolution. Thus, the government has gained air, but not tranquility. The street threatens to heat up again. Unions and social organizations launched a plan of struggle for March 31 and April 7 following the closure of the 'Return to Work' program. The reason explanations were not enough to close the case and the file continued to move through the courts. In fact, in recent hours, Federal Judge Ariel Lijo ordered protective measures for Vanesa Elizabeth Tossi, a secretary linked to the airline company involved in the case, after she reported pressure following her testimony. The other piece that adds pressure is the $LIBRA case. The phone forensics of Mauricio Novelli continued to generate repercussions, while the plaintiffs requested new interrogations, and the businessman's defense sought to annul the expert report alleging irregularities in the custody chain.
